NEW Growth Alliance (North East Wyoming Growth Alliance) Created
October 6, 2016
In August, a memorandum of understanding between Gillette, Buffalo and Sheridan was created and passed by all three city councils for the NEW Growth Alliance. The NEW Growth Alliance combines the efforts of the three communities to market northeast Wyoming as a prime location to expand or start a business. The mayors, economic developers and others have been working on this effort since the fall of 2013. In 2015 the group received a $100,000.00 planning grant from the Wyoming Business Council to develop a marketing and action plan. They are excited to see their efforts move forward with the official formation of the organization. The idea behind the recruiting effort is that individually each community is not large enough or strong enough to attract new business. By working together and including the combined workforce, population and resources of the three communities there is a higher likelihood that site selectors and businesses will choose Northeast Wyoming as the location of a new plant or operation. The NEW Growth Alliance Management Council includes the Mayors from all three counties and two at large members. The technical committee has Economic Development representatives from each community. The next steps forward are the implementation of the marketing and action plan. The group plans to attend the upcoming Fabtech show in Las Vegas.
