WEDA Legislative Leadership
Legislative Process
Step 1: Position Request Submission
Any WEDA member may submit a request for WEDA to consider taking a position on
legislation or a policy issue. Requests are submitted to WEDA staff and forwarded to the
WEDA Board of Directors for initial consideration of whether the issue warrants review for
a position of support, oppose, or monitor.
Step 2: Legislative Review and Member Input
Using the adopted 2026 Legislative Priorities as the guiding framework, WEDA members
review submitted position requests and provide input and recommendations. This review
occurs during the WEDA Legislative Call, held Fridays at 10:30 a.m. during the Wyoming
Legislative Session. Member feedback is conveyed to the Board of Directors.
Step 3: Board Review and Adoption
Legislation or issues recommended for support or opposition are presented by WEDA
staff to the WEDA Board of Directors. The Board reviews the recommendation, considers
member input and alignment with WEDA priorities, and takes formal action by vote.
Step 4: Position Finalization and Communication
Positions formally adopted by the Board of Directors are posted on the WEDA website
and shared with the Board and membership. Adopted positions guide WEDA’s advocacy
and lobbying activities and may be advanced by WEDA staff, Board leadership, and
members in coordination with the Board’s direction.
