307 Aviation Launched with Help from the Washakie Development Association

February 12, 2020

Worland, WY. Tony Herby had the dream of owning his own helicopter business for many years. In 2017, he began working with Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network Regional Director Bruce Morse to decide if buying a business was the right option. The Wyoming SBDC Network helped Herby with developing a business plan, creating financial projections, and exploring financing options. Ultimately, Herby decided to start a new business from the ground up.

In 2019, Tony, his wife Emily, and business partner David Stinson worked with Security State Bank to become the first participants in the Grow Worland Business Loan Program — which is administered by the Washakie Development Association (WDA). With bank financing in hand, they purchased a helicopter and 307 Aviation was born. The business uses a helicopter to help clients manage weed and pest issues, as well as performing animal capture and aerial observation projects.

“Bruce Morse from the Wyoming SBDC Network in Powell has been a great resource and told us to contact WDA.” Herby says. “The SBDC was essential in getting our business started. They offered us support with professional staff and expert advice in all aspects of business. The SBDC helped us develop a business plan and continues to offer our business a variety of resources.”
