Wyoming Treasure Chest & Eatery, LLC Looks To Expand With Help of SBDC

Sundance, WY. With her extensive experience in the restaurant industry, Thersia (Te) Turbiville leased a building in Sundance, WY and opened a limited service restaurant and a consignment gift shop featuring Wyoming-made products. 

To get started, Te worked with a local lender who referred her to the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network for assistance in developing a business plan. Te formed an LLC, put a point of sale system in place, and opened for the 2019 summer tourist season. Te is currently utilizing the Wyoming SBDC Network’s business growth services as she considers expanding her company to take advantage of other tourism seasons.

Sundance is an active tourist community for all seasons — summer tourists heading to Devils Tower and the Black Hills, fall hunters, and winter snowmobile enthusiasts — but has very limited fast food options. Te’s eatery offers baked goods and quality, locally-grown beef from her family ranch. Her consignment store fills a need that allows home-based artisans to succeed as well, by providing an attractive space that is open to customers year-round. The Wyoming Business Council’s Made in Wyoming program also provides a list of artisans that Te uses to identify new vendors.
