September 18, 2023
Most wouldn’t associate one of the biggest names in tech with a town of less than 3,000 people. But in the City of Kemmerer, a member of the Wyoming Economic Development Association (WEDA), Bill Gates and his energy company TerraPower are planning their first cutting-edge nuclear power plant.
TerraPower brings the future of energy to Wyoming, supported by the City of Kemmerer, a WEDA member
Out-of-town developers are already doing site surveys, certainly for the plant itself, but also planning for housing and amenities to support the growth in the workforce. The company anticipates there will be approximately 300 jobs added once the plant comes online.
Though Wyoming is one of the largest generators of fossil fuels, those working in today’s plants know the value of nuclear power. Transferable skills and new jobs set Kemmerer up for immense growth in the coming decade and beyond.
