Why WEDA?
Economic development is a team effort, and the state of Wyoming can grow faster and make long-lasting improvements when organizations act as one.
The Wyoming Economic Development Association (WEDA) brings together community leaders and development professionals from across the state. It creates networking opportunities, shares resources, and advocates based on the needs of its municipalities.
You don’t have to act alone. Join a community with the same goals and challenges as you.
Let’s grow Wyoming together.
Get to Know WEDA
WEDA is a nonprofit association that represents nearly 50 economic development organizations across Wyoming.
As an economic development thought leader, WEDA brings together organizations from communities of all sizes so everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and be heard.
Many Wyoming communities face similar challenges. We can collaborate and share ideas to overcome problems and address issues head-on. When new investment comes to the state, everyone can benefit from the talent attraction, increased tax revenue, and new amenities that come with it.
The Benefits of Joining WEDA
There are several reasons to become a WEDA member if you manage a team of economic development professionals. Here are a few benefits you can enjoy that align with our mission and your goals.
Why WEDA
Advocacy – have a seat at the table.
WEDA maintains a strong relationship with government officials and legislators throughout the state. WEDA contracts with a lobbyist who represents its interests. Small economic development teams can have a louder voice by joining a larger community with similar interests.
Training and education – become more effective in your role.
Attend monthly Prosperity Calls that bring members together to discuss current issues and trends. WEDA also hosts two conferences each year to provide ongoing education focused on economic development, while connecting members to extensive training opportunities.
Resource Sharing – gain access to tools and insights.
WEDA sends out regular digital newsletters and notices, featuring tools and opportunities for its members. It maintains an active blog and digital presence, streamlining communication. Stay up-to-date on local, state, and national trends while exploring resources that meet your specific needs.
Networking – meet other community leaders facing similar issues.
WEDA builds networks and relationships with other organizations and agencies, while connecting teams to collaborate further. It also showcases the efforts of communities across the state, so municipalities can see how their peers address local problems. WEDA offers a mixture of virtual and in-person networking events.
How to Join WEDA
Economic development teams can join or renew their WEDA membership online. Every member is invited to vote in WEDA elections and participate in engagement surveys. You can serve on the board of directors or join a committee.
Decide how involved you want to be with WEDA and shape its future. Not only is this a great way to learn about new opportunities and economic development resources, but it is also a space to share your perspective with relevant stakeholders and partners.
Let’s Work Together for Wyoming’s Future
WEDA is strong because of its members. The economic development teams that serve on its committees and renew their membership guide the organization’s efforts.
